Twenty-seven members joined the informal meeting hosted by President Ben Fields and his wife Margret. Margret did an amazing job of allowing the conversation to flow by switching between all the participants. Anyone who’s hosted a Zoom meeting knows this is not an easy task. Members were asked to show any new paperweights they’d purchased during the last year and to share anything they’d learned from going through the Covid-19 pandemic. Many showed weights and spoke about what they’d been doing the last year. Everyone agreed how good it was to see each other, if only on camera, and how much we’d missed getting together. We were joined by Wisconsin based member Tony Beadell who showed some portrait weights and recommended the Millefiori Artists, Collector and Addicts Group (MACA) on Facebook.
We also heard news from a couple of artists. David Graeber had injured his hand while breaking up a dog fight. The injury had prevented David from working for a while but he was expected to make a full recovery. John Deacons who sent his regards to the group said the Deaconses were excited to travel to a meeting soon. Kathy Poeppel and Dick Moiel told how they’d recently acquired a huge number of crystal corporate award overruns. Kathy and Dick showed photos of the crystal and the colorful glasses they’d been making from them by adding different colored powders.
Ben thanked everyone for participating and asked members to look out for an email asking for feedback on an in person meeting, likely in May or June.
